Scott Pilgrim vs The World

I had been waiting for the last Scott Pilgrim book to come out, that day came and went, and I had the movie to look forward to...and now that has been seen, I can't believe there isn't anything left for me to wait for. Well, besides marathon'ing the video game...but you know what I mean.

I first started reading at the 3rd book, SP & The Infinite Sadness (with my girl Envy Adams on the cover). It's been a journey following the comics and the story, and while I'm glad Scott Pilgrim has been catapulted from indie-obscurity to mainstream success, with the victory comes the spoils.

Went to the midnight showing with Cindy, Eric, and coincidentally saw Fernando and his buddy Kevin at the theater. We sat in front of some high schoolers who kept complaining about "hipsters" the whole time, but it was obviously past their bedtime and their brains weren't working because they clearly did not know the definition of what a "hipster" is.

And for the record, Scott Pilgrim is as hipster as I ever want to be.

There was another guy who thought he was the biggest Scott Pilgrim fan, and therefore, better than everyone. He made some snide remarks (directed at me) about not needing to cosplay because he already loved Scott Pilgrim before Scott Pilgrim was ever invented or some shit, but if he did, his cosplay would've been better than anything ever seen in forever. Or some shit. Anyway, I didn't care because I go home knowing that I have a life, and I knew I looked cute in my blue hair. But not the pink tights. I actually really hated wearing the pink tights, haha.

The movie did not disappoint, thankfully. The humor was spot on, the speed, interpretations, and special FX were all awesome. They glazed over a LOT of the character's back stories, but it was understandable since the movie runs 2 hours. The ending is different from the books, but it didn't take away from the overall story.

My personal dislikes:
- the heavier emphasis on Knives Chau (especially a Knives/Ramona/Scott triangle that really wasn't necessary nor in the books)
- the marginalization of Kim Pine
- NO explanation for, but a quick reference to, the space highway and Ramona's "connection" to Gideon
- actor interpretations of Envy Adams and Gideon...and Kim had WAY too many freckles, it was scary
