I did my "evening workout" just about as soon as I got home this afternoon. I added something new. I ran. I HATE running ( Read more... )

I don't spend hours every day, I tend to spend half hour to an hour on exercise, possibly as much as 90 minutes. I really don't enjoy exercise (and for the record that time jogging was the first, last, only time I'll go, hopefully ever again...) but at the same time I don't enjoy being fat, either. So the question is, is an hour a day (on average) worth my time so that I can enjoy the GOOD foods I like? The answer for me is yes.

However, another point I'd like to make about exercising is that it's healthy. I had issues with my blood pressure being too high, and my doctor said that she was going to put me on BP meds. I absolutely do NOT want to go on BP meds. I stopped salting my foods (I was a HUGE saltaholic, and at first it sucked but now it's not so bad) and I started exercising. The next doctor visit I got 120/80 and she was happy and I escaped BP meds.

As for how "sad" it is when you work out for several hours a day? That was my life in the military for a while. However, technically working out was part of my job at the time. If you were getting PAID to work out for a few hours a day, would you do that for a job? Today, though, I admit I'd probably NOT want to, but at the time I was working out (in some way, shape, or form) for many hours out of each day. No, I'm NOT counting 12 oz. curls in my workout, either. ;) I had to be in amazing shape for what I was doing, and so I did what I had to do.

I DO, however, agree with you that the people that are "ripped" and work out for a few hours a day JUST to BE ripped is a bit on the sad side. I don't have to have the body of a model, I just have to NOT have the body of someone like Chris Farley....

Ive dated those kinda people, the ones that spend all day working out. They would criticize me if i didn't go to the gym with them. "you gonna get fat," " keep smoking and you'll get cancer" blah blah blah ... its annoying and very unattractive, not to mention 99% of the time those kinda people have to work out and have ripped bodies to make up for the other parts of the body that they seriously lack in .. :)
