Justice Served?
A lot of people know that I've been a firm supporter of the West Memphis Three - and I have been ever since I first read about them in the NME as a teenager - when I was almost same age as Damien Echols. As I was leaving sixth form to go to University, Damien was facing the death penalty for the horrific murder of three 8 year old boys, along with his friend Jason Baldwin and Jesse Misskelley. 15 years later, and I've lived my life, travelled, studied, married - and he's stayed in prison - facing death every day for something he didn't do.
Again and again I sit and wonder HOW on earth they were convicted. Again and again I want to go and shake Judge Burnett and ask WHY he won't hear the new DNA evidence - there is NOTHING there to convict them. NOTHING. FUCK ALL, SWEET FA - NOTHING.
