My terrible break-up
Erin: "Hey,"
Me: "Hey, how was camp?"
Erin: "...Fine..."
Me: "Okay..."
Erin: "I... I have two things I need to talk about"
Me: "Okay."
Erin: "First... do you know what books we have to read for summer-reading?"
Me: "Sure, we have to read The Good Earth and we can choose between Lord of the Flies or Fahrenheit 451"
Erin: "Oh... okay..."
Me: "..."
Erin: "Well... the second thing isn't that great..."
Me: "Really?"
Erin: "Yeah... I... oh jeeze..."
Me: "What?"
Erin: "I... I have to break up with you..."
Me: *trying to sound sympathetic* "Okay... why?"
Erin: "Well... you know how I didn't know if I was a christian or not?"
Me: "Yeah..."
Erin: "Well... I am... and right now I don't need to be in a relationship... especially with you"
Me: *holding back almost anger* "Okay"
Erin: "Yeah... I really don't want to do this... but... I think of the things we've done and-"
Me: "Yeah, I understand"
Erin: "I still care about you, and I still love you so much, and you're still unbelievably sexy, and- ahh... the way you make me feel..."
Me: "I understand... it's kind of died"
Erin: "No! Not at all!"
Me: "Oh.."
Erin: "I still love you"
Me: "I love you too"
Erin: "Okay..."
Me: "...does this mean we have to kill the friendship?"
Erin: "No! Of course not! I just hope that our feelings don't come back when we start school again... that would be bad"
Me: "Yeah..."
Erin: "Yeah..."
Me: "So... how long have you been home?"
Erin: "Umm.. what do you mean by home?"
Me: "I mean in town, in Tallahassee, or Havana."
Erin: *hesitant* "Oh... umm... 2... maybe 3 weeks?"
Me: ".........Ah... I had a feeling you'd been back for a while..."
Erin: "Yeah... I've been trying to figure things out..."
Me: "Yeah, I understand."
Erin: "So... I'll... see you at school?"
Me: "Of course!"
Erin: "Okay... bye..."
Me: "Bye."
