about that 'neuroscience' survey
By the time I got here, it looks like they've realised their heads are up their asses and removed the survey. I'd have liked to at least go through it anyway to gawk at the sheer idiocy, but oh well.
But anyway, this has got to be the single most infuriating statement they've made in all the comments so far:
"About sexual orientation: Thanks for suggesting this. We should have included Other. I've just added that as a choice."
This is why I fucking hate surveys. Unless they are extraordinarily thorough and make sure to include a million fucking permutations, they are going to leave someone out as 'irrelevant'. And all those ethnicity questions on the random british paperwork you see here never leave an option for the vast majority of the americas, but hey, if you're bangladeshi or jamaican or irish or from any other country they've colonised at some point, then you're something special. Thanks for making two entire continents feel so welcome. I'd like to think that I exist as more than just a fucking 'other'.
This is why I always write in 'Romulan' in the other box.
And while we're at it, I'd just like to point out that when nushanakt had that vidding survey up a while ago, the sexual orientation question was definitely a blank write in box that you can fill in as you choose. I really appreciated that at the time. It's not that fucking difficult.
Sorry for the excessive swearing, but this is not fucking cool. Be glad the entire post isn't all in capslock.
ETA: And that's not even touching plenty of other massive buckets of fail that other people have articulated much better than I have. It just makes me sad that many other commenters over there are suggesting an 'other' option like that's a good thing.
