All Because of You
sitting out on the bedroom porch
looking over the empty street
i saw a leaf bouncing from curb to curb
& all i could think of was you.
its like the midnight blue blackens my sight
because all i can see is your face in the sky
& all i could think of was you.
i walked down the road and wound up at the shore
shuffling my feet as the sand blew to my knees
i listened intently, waiting for a noise.
& softly in the distance
all i could hear was your voice.
the water was bitter, like the tears on my face
that frigid night air and midnight tide were lovers
dancing together to a song that only the waves could compose
& as i bonded with the ocean,
all i could do was cry because of you.
i ran from the eroding particles of land
disturbing the well placed footprints that led me to sea
with every pounce guiding me closer to stability
& every sharp breeze that delayed my arrival
your presence kept me still
& all i could feel was you
