It is, I look back and can't figure out how I made it through school in this City. As you know, there are no Private School options here that don't involved basically sending her to an all-white christian fringe school.
The closest option is Valdosta, as far as private school goes. There's also Tift Area in Chula, which is what we're talking about for Baby Bee. If her parents can't afford it, I hope to. And Daddy's retired, so he can darn sure get up in the morning and take her every day. What grade is she going to be in next??
There are private 'acadamies' in thomasville... prestigious... but I don't know if she'd fit in there, either. There's a good school in quitman, I've heard. Of course, Hamilton is basically a private school here in Colquitt County. But as much as I don't want her to be the only white kid in her class, I don't want her to be exposed to ONLY white middle class kids, either. erg. She's going to 1st grade.
Hm =( I was thinking that Randi's going to be teaching third grade at Odom next year. She's not the sort of person to let anyone get picked on in her class. Ever.
I dunno. We went to Pineland. Everybody thought we were snobs, but we were pretty much a bunch of farm kids whose parents wanted us to have a better education than public school has ever or will ever provide. I was in fifth grade when we switched to public school, and I don't think it was ever a bad thing. Yeah, we were all white kids, but private school always stressed the important things. Tolerance and understanding, volunteer work, helping those less fortunate than you. Honestly? I think I learned a lot more about prejudice and hatred in public school.
I haven't heard of the one in Quitman, but I have heard good things about the school in Valdosta. I'd suspect she'd be more likely to get diversified education/meet diversified people there just due to the larger population base.
