(no subject)
So hot and humid just now, hoping for a rain storm so I can lie outside in it. Went to see KMFDM last night, they were absolutely amazing, lots of old stuff as well as some tracks off the new album. Free Your Hate, World War III and Saft and Kraft were my highlights, but really it was all great! Support band Patenbrigade Wolff made fun listening too, especially when no-one was singing.
So, I'm trying to listen to the new Rammstein again, I really can't get this track, it just isn't connecting. Someone described it as poor mans Metallica to me, maybe thats it, I never like Metallica at all. And sorry management I don't feel guilty about dl'ing it, its a preview, I'll still buy the album in the end and the single and whatever else comes out.
Continuing exploring, made trips to the seaside at Wärnemunde which is very pretty but also the windiest place I have ever been.
Had a really fun trip to an old abandoned hospital at Beelitz Heilstatten (some piccies here http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=85391&id=717382902&l=c8988d7069) - originally built as a sanitorium, later used as a Soviet hospital, famous guests had included Hitler and Honecker. Its weird wandering around the empty buildings (empty but for the hoardes of photographers), with the still present signs of former lives, newspaper clippings from Russian papers stuck to walls, etc. Its pretty sad though to see these beautiful old buildings going to ruin, some are being renovated, others are totally past being able to be renovated. As usualy, they were built for a purpose which has gone, moved to new premises more suited to todays living. The buildings don't really easily fit other use without major work, which means major money, so cheaper to go elsewhere and build new stuff.
Didn't get home til 5:30 this morning, kind of sleepy but too hot to sleep. So I'm rambling! Btw, the Brandenburg Gate is extra beautiful at 4am, so very peaceful sitting in Pariser Platz, no tourists, just the guard from the American Embassy wandering, wondering wtf we were doing. I did think of running fast towards the embassy and see if it freaked him a bit, but didn't - he had very big gun!
