I email my sister a lot because we are the only two people in real life that understand our need to diet and be thin, while not being competitive with each other. Anyways, we always end up giving each other lots of encouragement, and I just wanted to post some of it here so maybe it could help some of you, too.
I used to be really depressed and disgusted with myself because of my weight and appearance but I don't think I'm disgusting or a freak or anything like that anymore. I think I'm okay, but I want to be better, and I know I can succeed. So I don't punish myself anymore. Not eating is treating myself to succeeding at a goal I have had for all of my life.
I really think you should try to look at it like that. Like you said, you had a lot of bigger friends, and we have about the same build and you don't think we're all disgusting! Neither are you! We could all drop a few pounds, you know? But men find us attractive because of who we are AND what we look like. So do this stuff for YOU. Fasting is scientifically proven to be VERY beneficial to almost every organ system in your body! Low calorie diets are proven to extend your life, improve your health and make you a happier person. In addition to all of that, fattening foods, grease, empty calories are proven to have a negative effect on all areas of your health, they depress you and make you tired, make your brain foggy, and encourage you to eat more of them, thus forming the addiction known as SAD or the Standard American Diet.
So think of treating yourself by not eating those empty calories. It's only going to make you feel bad, and you deserve to feel good! After a while your body will get used to it and stop telling your stomach you want things that you don't actually want. And after a small amount of time you will realize how great it feels to be fresh, alive and young and vibrant. Things you have been all along, but afraid to show to yourself and the rest of the world.
Hang in there girls. There's life beyond what you put in your mouth, and it's called LIVING.
