We, the lights of the world,
Burn like filaments;
Bright, honest, real
With every emotion,
And radiating with love.
But to burn so hot,
So bright that you
Leave an impression
On everyone you meet,
Is to burn out too soon.
So darling take what you can,
I'll keep you warm,
I'll ignite your heart,
But tomorrow when I'm gone
Remember when I said:
We, the lights of the world,
Burn way too hot.
We are honest and real,
We long to show the love we feel
And risk burning out too soon.
