It's hard being an Indianapolis Colts fan in Los Angeles.

1) Mid-last week, Paul told me he that the CBS Sports site, as well as our local listings, said CBS was going to air the Indianapolis at Green Bay game on Sunday. Colts games are never shown here so this was a really big deal for me. We decided to make a day out of it and when we were ready to watch the game, imagine my irritation and displeasure when CBS aired the Jets vs. Raiders game instead. It probably was for the best as my team had a pretty humiliating loss, but even so. The game we did watch was okay because at least we got to watch Brett Favre, even if they did lose as well. I dislike the Raiders and am glad LA got rid of them.

2) I think that even if Manny Ramirez doesn't stay with the Dodgers (which he will!), I'll still be a fan after seeing this video where he takes a moment out of the game to high-five a fan. It would have been cooler to watch him do that in Dodger blue, but still goes to show he's awesome. And it was great having him as a Dodger even for a little bit, especially on someone else's paycheck (thanks Red Sox!).

3) Paul took me to his old school on Saturday for their annual pumpkin festival for pumpkin picking in the pumpkin patch (redundant much?). I got myself a medium sized pumpkin and he got six. It was a fun experience doing something more outdoors-y than usual, and also holiday-centric, which I almost never do. I might even dress up for Halloween this year (actually, doubtful).

4) I bought new glasses a couple of weeks ago and finally picked them up. I still wear my old pair at home but I should try and wear the new ones when I go out. It's not a big deal, but I still feel a little self-conscious after using contacts exclusively for the past nine years.

5) There has been some trickle of Strokes news lately! Side projects, a new restaurant in LA backed by Jules, going back to the studio in February... Feelings of hope and excitement are reawakening.

the strokes, sports, go colts!, random, life
