I was chatting with a friend about the sad states of our love lives and we started waxing nostalgic about our first crushes. That led me to start getting nostalgic about fourth grade in general which, looking back, was probably one of the best school years I had. (
cut for puppy love )
HAHAHAHAHAH OMGGGGG... ME TOO.
Oh God, BALE. That man is hot beyond hot. And Heath Ledger -- man, I followed his career like a faithful puppy dog and now that he's gone, it almost feels like I've lost an old friend. I know, I'm being dumb, but I've always really liked him in a way that's just slightly more than, "Oh, he's cute." If that makes any sense.
You know, if it's sad to care about whether or not Nolan's doing the third film - we'll be sad losers together!! One of my friends kept on telling me that Nolan wasn't interested in doing it. And I just protested, "But Christopher Nolan REALLY knows what he's doing with these movies!!"
And it's sad, but, WOW, how can you top The Dark Knight? Spiderman 2, I loved it, but it didn't make me go, "OH MY GOD, HOW CAN YOU TOP THIS." Same with X-Men 2. Great movie, I thought, but not, "OH MY GOD, HOW CAN YOU TOP THIS."
Maybe Nolan realizes TDK cannot be topped. Maybe he wants to hand it over to some crappy director who screws up the third movie so that everyone will say, "Well, Christopher Nolan could've saved this film!" And even if he couldn't have, everyone will think he could've, and he'll go down as a legend.
....Yes, I HAVE given this more thought than necessary.

HAHAH, okay! I just have a feeling that Nolan would have made this film just to decide to abandon the franchise for the third movie. Batman Begins could have been a stand-alone film, with the ending just a hint in case the franchise is picked up again later. But this ending is wide open, I just don't see him letting someone take over when the bar has been set so high. Because really, this is Nolan and Bale's Batman, and at this point I think it's only them that can give any sort of worthy conclusion (if that's what they're going for in the third film) to the story. ...Yeah, I haven't been thinking about this too much either.
