damn, i just closed the link to the audio clip, but someone reversed the whisper at the end and it says, very very clearly, "it's still alive".

eta: found it in my history.

Toward the end of the credits, I was glad we stayed just because the fact that the Cloverfield overture is called "Roar!" to be amusing.

I don't mind that we didn't get more answers, really. The lack of info fit the movie. But I wouldn't mind if we got anymore in-game hints somehow.

i agree. this is supposed to be footage from people that don't know what's going on and are just trying to survive. it would completely take away from the realism of the movie to stop in the middle and have someone say, "hey... anyone think that this thing has anything to do with that deep-sea drilling company that helps to produce slusho? i mean, some people think they're doing some not-nice things and maybe they woke up the monster or something"

i'd actually be pretty pissed if it was spoon-fed to us in the movie. i got a lot of satisfaction out of knowing what i knew from the arg and getting a more complete picture without someone in the movie having to pat me on the back for it.

I haven't even seen the film yet, since it doesn't come out here in the UK until Feb 1st, but I completely agree and am actually pleased to hear the film doesn't offer everything to the viewer on a silver plate ( ... )

i admit, it made me very dizzy and i had to look away from time to time but the rest of the packed audience didnt seem bothered! My boyfriend loved it and i admit it left me kinda spooked! it was pretty great indeed and you see plenty of the monster in my opinion....
the last 20 mins were crazy good

I agree with the dizziness, I've never been able to watch home movies cause 'shaky-cam' makes me ill. But I made it through the whole movie, I think cause it was shaky, then had still moments so it worked :)

How close did you sit to the screen? I sat int he way back of an auditorium-style theater and was fine, but the first couple of minutes were terrible. I think it got better when "Hud" held the camera.

I sat 3/4 of the way back and had to look at the edge of the screen a few times to keep from getting dizzy.

I really agree with most of what's being said here. The fact that they didn't answer every question and left some things open for your imagination was completely the right thing to do. If the entire group had somehow found out a history of the monster or other information, it would have been obtained in a ridiculous, nonbelievable way. I was really happy with the way the movie turned out. And thinking more upon it, the ending was the only way they could've ended it without it being nonsense. If they gave it the ending everyone had expected, it would've been complete garbage, assuming it would've been via camcorder.

I really just think everyone who dislikes the movie feels that way because they don't understand that a movie filmed by a camcorder which is held by the characters holds a whole lot of limitations to keep authenticity. Overall, I loved this movie. I'm seeing it again today. :)

AMEN.

And I thought the film was fantastic because of how authentic it was. If these characters had figured out where the monster came from, what it was, etc. The entire experience would have been tarnished by a cheap attempt at giving us answers that people filming in real life would never get.

What ever it was it came from outerspace... in the last fladhback scene you see in the far distance when they are showing the water something come flying down out of the sky and crash into the water out by the big boat... it is so far in the distance and beth is talking so you tend to be watching her and miss it but it is there on the upper right hand corner of the screen.
