The City of Stairs
by Robert Jackson Bennett

This is a book with a more or less original twist on the subject of divine entities ruling the lives of people. One of the better fantasy novels of the year 2014. Actually, books like these give me hope that the genres of SF & F are still alive and kicking.

The book has a believable and pretty well thought out world, and characters. I liked it a lot, both for the grand design of the events and for the details too. The people in the book are believable and alive.

And the book does remind the reader, that only by knowing the truth one can learn to go forward.

Robert Jackson Bennett is a writer to watch.

The Redshirts
by John Skalzi

A comedic scince-fiction novel. Well structured, with a strong ironic twist towards the TV science-fiction stories. Fans of Star-Trek and similar shows will, I am sure enjoy many of the references. The book is fun, clever and with unexpected endings.
