United States of Leland. What a fuckin' pretentious movie.
Dear Kevin Spacey,
Contrary to what the Oscars may have taught you, senseless deconstruction of suburbia does not a good movie make. Move the fuck on.
Hugs 'n kisses,
moi
Okay, some actors can just like sit on a park bench or stare out a window and still hold your attention. Ryan Gosling's not one of them, and since this film calls for him to stare at things a hell of a fucking lot, well, crap. He's good when the script gives him things to do, but when all the direction seems to be, "Stand over here and look mysteriously endearing," he makes with the suck really fast. That would be really crappy direction anyway. USL's director also wrote the script. You suck, writer-director dude.
And what the fuck was up with "sadness", yo. Yeah, just drop that word every five seconds so you can pretend to have a deep movie.
Jena Malone and Don Cheadle were pretty good, though.
Live From Baghdad made me want to be a journalist the same way Indiana Jones made me want to be an archeologist. Oh, the madcap adventures! The camaraderie! Broken machines and bombs and riots and so much going on! Woohoo! I think it's just that I kind of like watching shit happen around me sometimes. (Not necessarily to me.)
I was so, so amused to see that Robert Weiner co-wrote the screenplay. The movie's based on true events, see, so most of the characters (like Robert Weiner) were real. Dude, this is all I got to say: MARTY STU MUCH, EH?
Helena Bonham Carter is very, very pretty.
In other news, I downloaded the Spanish subtitles for Gerry.
:)
WHICH WOULD BE ANY FUCKING GOOD IF I UNDERSTOOD SPANISH BUT I DON'T OH MY FUCKING GOD I DON'T EVEN HAVE A COPY OF GERRY TO SLAP THE SUBTITLES ON TO I JUST CLICKED MY WAY INTO A SPANISH SITE THAT I THOUGHT HAD TORRENTS BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND SPANISH AND THEY DON'T HAVE TORRENTS THEY HAVE
SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITLES.
I'm about to explode. I feel like eating your children and farting on your pillow, and liberating your intestines from your belly and making you watch as I eat them. Does autotranslate just work for the main page or what? It is so gut-wrenchingly frustrating looking for something on a page where you don't understand what the hell is going on. The story so far: Spanish subtitles, a handful of stills, the fucking trailer (which was Realplayer instead of Quicktime because some people are CAVEMEN), but BUT BUT BUT.
GERRY.
I am so distraught I cannot even think of an appropriately funny caption for that picture that so begs to be captioned. You guys caption it, I'm going to have an emo moment with my pirated DVD collection.
