I'm one seat over on this ride, Sis.

My first bout of IDA was when I was still on active duty in the Army, and for 23 years since, every time I had iron or vitamin deficiencies, the military and VA docs just blamed it on ... menstruation. Ignore the fact that while I was on active duty, hundreds of other women were eating the exact same food from the exact same chow halls, bleeding every month just like me ... WITHOUT becoming anemic. Ignore the fact that my docs stopped my cycle >8yrs ago to prevent cyclic migraines - can't blame menstruation when it doesn't happen. Curveball - since my TSH hit 13.67 in 2002, I've regularly asked for thyroid Ab tests, and regularly been told there's no reason to run them.

Now I sit here with Dx's for both GSE and AITD as of this month ... sad because I was right all along: there really was something very wrong, more sad because GSE management is maddeningly simple, angry that in all these years - the docs just prescribed supplements without EVER investigating whether an absorption issue was underlying cause, angry because I've been asking for thyroid Ab tests since 2002 (I would have gone GF years ago since anti-gliadin Abs can attack thyroid tissue)

I'm optimistic that going GF can either halt or at least slow down various aspects of my health decline, yet angry and heartbroken over >2 decades of chronic and degenerative health problems in perfect tandem with uninvestigated deficiencies and flat refusals to run thyroid Ab tests.

I think ANYBODY has the right to feel hurt and resentful when they haven't been listened to whilst their health has suffered. Give yourself time and let the feelings happen on their own schedule. Even people like me who have been likewise failed by the medical community for so many years over something that was just a few lab tests and one biopsy away from being found can't tell you WHAT you're "supposed" to feel. Feel whatever you feel, my only recommendation being just try not to let it shut you down. If you have any piss and/or vinegar left in you, this might be a terrific time to use some.

I hear the flight attendant should be through with the snacks in about 20 minutes. Here's hoping the cart has something GF on it...
