Well, so far I've been off the sweets again for a few days now (I still have sugar in my morning latte as always). So far I feel ok. This week I am going to pick up some stevia to use in beverages. When I crave sugar I can make myself some chocolate milk with stevia yay.
The first time I kicked sugar, I felt terrible for the first several days (I was in physical achey agony, and had very low energy), then on day 4 I felt high. I wasn't taking Adderall then, though; maybe that has helped me avoid the pain this time.
I wish I had an ice cream maker: I'd make my own sugar-free ice cream and be a happy camper.
ETA: I know some of you are new since I decided to kick sugar in 2007, so here's the situation: I think processed/added sugar is unhealthy and I have a weakness for sweets. When I say "kicking sugar", I am basically "kicking desserts." I have a little sugar in my morning latte, and I don't hesitate to add sugar to recipes that call for a little bit (for example, Vietnamese peanut sauce calls for a little sugar, and so do the plain crépes I made yesterday.) My goal is to be free of sugar cravings, in that while I might get them, I don't give into them.
I am not a candy eater so candy isn't an issue; in fact, small amounts of dark chocolate do help me when I am kicking sugar, because I can have a few bites and it helps to overcome a craving (think: a few bites of dark chocolate instead of a few brownies or a bowl of ice cream, etc.)
