Tips for the Modern Christian Wife

Since she is getting married so much sooner than I am, she has been lovingly handed the marital knowledge that every God-fearing woman should possess when she arrives at the joyous occasion that is her wedding day. Thanks to her, I have been let in on the secrets of wedded bliss before it is my time to hear them for myself, and they are as follows (can't you just hear the sarcasm echoing in your mind?):

Tips for the Modern Christian Wife

1. Men and women have different needs

2. It is the woman's responsibility to be submissive to her husband (in the bedroom)

3. Never say no to him - even if you don't feel like it and don't want to, you should do it anyway

Ladies, I think I speak for many of us when I say: "What?"

Why are women, Christian or not, still being taught this?

How can they lecture me on true love in a Christian home when it's okay for a woman's own husband to be so absorbed in his own selfish desires that he demands the most intimate of acts of his wife and can't manage to see that she doesn't want to do it? Yeah, sounds like love to me!

Not so much.

Why aren't women being taught that it's perfectly natural and acceptable to enjoy sex? Would it sinfully defy my role as a Christian woman if I wanted sex just as often as or more than my husband did?

And why aren't women being taught that it's okay to say no every now and then? And men should be able to say no, too! These days, it's not uncommon to find women whose sexual appetites surpass that of their male counterparts, and there shouldn't be anything wrong with that.

A marriage should be a partnership, and no one person should own, demand of, or otherwise control the other. What's so wrong with equal respect and compromise?

YOU'RE ALL INSANELY RESTRICTED AND FULL OF SHIT!

THE POWERS THAT BE GAVE ME A VAGINA, AND I PLAN TO USE IT TO ITS FULLEST POTENTIAL!

And so should you.

Yay for happy consensual sex!

Gah!
