The announcement that isn't actually an announcement

I'm done with fandom.

The reason why this isn't actually an announcement is because it isn't meant to imply any practical act of leaving: I'll still occasionally read fandom-related posts, and maybe still post some fic or some art. (If nothing else, I know I still owe chlothar a fanfic.) It's more an announcement for my self than for anyone else. ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm....guilty as charged.

I just don't know where to go from here. I've tried ignoring it and not doing it, but that only makes everything feel worse.

So I'll just write what comes to my head and let it burn itself out.

Well, I don't think there's any problem with writing what comes into your head. The issue (for me at least) is when one ties one's own self-worth into the way other people receive something. None of us can control whether anyone else is going to react a certain way to our writing, so it's a terrible thing to place too much value on.

I can't even remember when I wrote a fic last time. Not that anyone actually miss my writings in fact. Now I mostly draw and enjoy it much more.

It is true that it seems to have been a very long time since you posted any writing. But your drawings are always beautiful to look at.

Around half a year or so? My writing muse went on strike at some point. Guess he never got the attention he wanted, so he went on strike >.>;
But I'm glad to hear that my drawings are enjoyable :)

Sounds like a lot of good sense. I suspect that your writing skills are lost on a good portion of your likely audience, which must be sad and frustrating.
Your recent Fruits Basket fic, for example. You have a very deft, smooth, and confident style. That is part of what Z want in crack, and it is sadly almost extinct.
I would be very sad if you stopped writing, but that doesn't sound like it will happen.
Write what you want!

Well, it would probably be worse if I did have a big audience; then I would feel obligated to write for them. That's the problem.
